TAKE THE KNOWLEDGE SELF-ASSESSMENT

You do not have to prepare or study for the self-knowledge test; it is meant to give you an idea of how your current level of knowledge compares to a Canadian optician.   At the end of each test, you will see how you scored compared to an entry level optician in Canada.  You will also see which answers you got wrong and will be given an explanation why your answer was right or wrong.

The results of your tests are not shared with anyone or stored for any reason.  You are the only person that will see your results.

All questions on the self-assessment tests are multiple-choice questions.  The question has “the stem” (which is the question) and three possible answers for you to choose from.  The answers include one “key,” which is the correct answer to the question, and two  “distractors,” which are plausible but incorrect answers to the question.   All three answers may seem like they could be a reasonable answer but only one is the correct answer.

It is important to thoroughly read and understand the question, and carefully consider each answer to determine if it is the best answer to the question before making a choice.

To start click on the correct button below.  There is no time limit to take the test but once you start it you will need to complete the entire test to get your results, you cannot save your answers and come back later to complete the test. We suggest you have at least one hour available.

KNOWLEDGE SELF-ASSESSMENT

The Knowledge Self-Assessment test is a 100-question multiple-choice test that covers the range of knowledge expected of opticians in Canada.  This self-assessment allows you to rate yourself on the knowledge required to work in Canada as an optician.  Upon completion, you will receive feedback on your readiness to pursue licensing in Canada.  This assessment is for your purposes only; your results will not be accessible to any regulator or licensing body.  You do not have to prepare or study for the assessment,  it is meant to give you an idea of how your current level of knowledge compares to a Canadian optician.  Below is a blueprint for the assessment which shows you which competencies from the National Competencies are examined.
